Today we’re celebrating the birthday of Andrei Sakharov, a Soviet nuclear physicist who became an activist for peace and human rights! Andrei was one of the primary developers of the hydrogen bomb for the USSR, but eventually came to be one of the leading dissidents and an activist for disarmament and peace between nations. Happy birthday, Andrei!
